The Solar Film family has grown again! This time, we’re expanding in the form of a partnership. We have acquired the longtime locally Richmond-owned window treatment company Specialty Drapery.
You may be wondering why we chose to partner with a business that could be viewed as a competitor to Solar Film. We even wrote a blog a while back about window film being an alternative to blinds. The partnership was born out of this idea: “We know windows really well. Let’s offer our clients the full spectrum of window solutions to best meet their needs.” Window film provides a virtually invisible solution for window concerns. However, we found that sometimes our clients want their window issues solved in addition to adding design flair.
Blinds, drapes, shutters, and shades provide similar benefits as window film.
Specialty Drapery offers a variety of window treatments. From shades and blinds to drapes and shutters, we provide the full gambit of window coverings. Additionally, we have a wide selection of top treatments as well as outdoor shades and screens. Within each category of window treatments, you have even more choices! Shade options include roller shades, Roman shades, and cellular shades. For blinds, we offer wood blinds, faux wood blinds, metal blinds, and panels/vertical blinds. We have plantation shutters and skylight shutters with several material options. Lastly, with twelve drape styles and endless fabric options, our drapes present the widest variety of choices.
If all of these options seem overwhelming, visit their showroom. Their window treatment consultants will help you hone in on the style that matches the aesthetic and functionality you desire. Can’t make it into our showroom? Schedule an in-home consultation for one of their designers to travel to you.
Window treatments and window film complement one another; they aren’t mutually exclusive. Window treatments offer a dynamic element where you can turn their functionality on and off by opening and closing them, while window film is “on” all the time. When window treatments are closed, they offer complete privacy, heat reduction, and glare control, but at the cost of your view. Window film provides a lower level of privacy, but allows you to retain your view in addition to providing heat and glare control. There are pros and cons to each solution, but when combined, they form the ultimate window experience!
